Grammar Point
In the passage above, many of the nouns used are Proper Nouns. A Proper Noun is the name of a specific person, place, or thing. Proper Nouns are always capitalized regardless of its position in a sentence.
Example: Magic Gardens is a museum full of mosaics created by an artist named Isaiah Zagar.
(Magic Gardens and Isaiah Zagar are both Proper Nouns because they are specific names.)
Grammer Exercise:
Create a short five sentence story about your weekend. In the story, please include at least three Proper Nouns.
Love weekend getaways! the times I've been to Philly, it makes me want to keep going back. Such a historic town. Reminds me of Washington DC whenever I go there. Next week I'm going to Boston and I'm sure ill get the same feeling of history when I'm there. Kudos to you for going on all these cool trips !
ReplyDeleteHi! I like your vocabulary exercise! It is a more engaging way to have the kids practice their vocabulary. The grammar exercise is nice too. Students will like talking about their weekend. The only situation you may have with that kind of assignment is you might have students say, "what do we write if we did nothing this weekend?" To avoid this, perhaps assign students a writing assignment where they write about a fun or memorable weekend they had one time. Giving students more freedom or variety gives you a chance to not get silly questions.
ReplyDeleteMagic Gardens looks amazing. I would like to visit. Have you been to the Franklin Institute there? That's a great trip.
